A story of horror and misplacement yet through such beautiful words filled with issues of memory forbidden love childhood growing up lost lives struggle to survive once again it is showing me how human beings around the world experience similar emotions and thoughtsThe book touched me much deeper than all the news and pictures from Haiti That's when one realizes each form of communication or art has its own advantages

  2. Bea Bea says:

This book is the poignant story of one man's experience of the brutality in Haiti during the time of Duvalier The protagonist a Haitian Jewish gay shopkeeper describes in poetic language the circumstances and events of 2 months in his life the emotional impact the culture of Haiti Short book very good read

  3. Lori Lori says:

to be honest i though this book was going to better than it was it is sort of a collection of some memories from the authors life but to me it seemed to drag on there was no transition between memories it just seemed like each chapter each about two or three pages was its own book
